"Prestigious appellations The Domaine Gaston et Pierre Ravaut is located at the foot of the famous Corton hillside, in the Côte-d'Or, the only place in Burgundy where both red and white wines are produced in grand cru. Its prestigious appellations impress: Corton and Corton-Charlemagne, Aloxe-Corton and Aloxe-Corton 1ercru; Ladoix. Promising beginnings In 1920, Gaston Ravaut, known as "le Tonton" (to differentiate him from his grandson Gaston, known as "le Tounet"), started to market the wine of the domain. The quality is there, the honors too: the wine won a medal at the Concours Général Agricole of 1936. And this was only the beginning! From father to son His son, Pierrot, developed the estate and succeeded in giving the Ladoix appellation a red Premier Cru. Reds for which people still travel today. On this great momentum, Pierrot's son, Gaston le Tounet, took over the reins, before passing them on to his heirs, Pierre and Vincent. Today, Vincent has kept the management of 12 hectares of the Domaine Gaston et Pierre Ravaut. Since 2021, his son Jules, proud descendant of a line of winegrowers, has joined him in the business. A pleasant surprise In 2014, during a tasting at Domaine Ravaut, we noticed that the wines were more refined compared to those of previous years. The reason? A dramatic change in style in the vineyards and in the cellar. Tasting the 2014 reds in oak confirmed that the estate's wines now had more aromatics, complexity, density and breed. After we began working with the estate, Burgundy Today magazine wrote that it was "a sure bet for the 2014 vintage"... which we were convinced of ourselves. The most admired parcels For Vincent Ravaut, it is Ladoix 1ercru "Les Basses Mourottes", a particular terroir, very complex, just like its subsoil. At Galleon, we also admire the Corton-Charlemagne, from which comes one of the greatest white wines in the world, the Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru 2014. A great moment of tasting "A 1953 Aloxe-Corton, on the occasion of my grandfather's death, in 2008. It was a great moment of sharing with friends, where we experienced great emotion in front of this perfect wine." - Vincent Ravaut"
