Casal Figueira is Antonió's starting point. From 1995 to 2007, he planted vines of international varieties (Semillon, Roussanne, Marsanne, Petit Manseng). But Antonió, always in search of greater authenticity, remembered the grape variety he had grown up with: Vital. He began to search for the vines of this old variety, convinced that it could produce original and authentic wines. During the 2009 harvest, Antonió unexpectedly passed away, leaving his wife Marta with the fermenting must. Marta, who had been following Antonió's work for ten years, decided to pursue it to honor his memory and spirit. She finished the vinification and bottled the 2009 vintage under the name Casal Figueira - Antonió. In the heart of the village of Vermelha, in her small cellar, Marta continues the work of her husband to this day.
